I taught this series of classes in 2019/20 on the books of Genesis and Exodus. Instead of the yin and yang of life, or dark vs. light, or good vs. evil, etc., all of which assume a dualist structure to reality, Gen/Ex teach us that life is lived in a cycle of creation/fall/redemption, or life/death/new life. We are given life, we lose that life, then we are restored and begin again, anew, aright. This transition from life to death to resurrection is the ancient, primal structure of reality according to the Christian tradition and, as it turns out, according to nature.
