“If you live today, you breath in nihilism ... it's the gas you breathe. If I hadn't had the Church to fight it with or to tell me the necessity of fighting it, I would be the stinkingest logical positivist you ever saw right now.”
~ Flannery O'Connor
This blog began as my reflections on atheism and on the nihilism that serves as both its source and goal. Many of these reflections I wrote during a period in my life when I was struggling with questions of faith and doubt, which are not mutually exclusive. Lately, I've diverged from atheism to reflect on more life-giving things, like my kids, photography, and the occasional haiku. If you're interested in my arguments against atheism, read from the bottom up starting with "Jesus and Julia." And be patient... sometimes it takes a minute for all the blogs to load. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.
Reader Alert: I am an equal-opportunity offender of both the Right and Left and find both, in their extreme guises, equally boring and appalling. Ideologies of any variety, conservative or liberal, are nothing but idolatries dressed up in political and cultural garb. I despise them all, to the core. Even the nice-sounding ones. Especially the nice-sounding ones.
